Can I just say that being a woman with all that hair down there is the WORST! I mean, seriously, it's like a never-ending nightmare! And if you can’t relate to what I’m talking about, this one might not be for you, you lucky girl.

The Waxing Experience

So, five years ago, I decided to give waxing a try, because everyone kept saying that shaving was harmful to your skin and that waxing was so much better.

Well, let me tell you, that was a LIE! Waxing hurts like a million bees stinging you all at once! And, I kept hoping that the pain would go away, but it never did. I dread going to my monthly appointments. But, l stick to waxing, because shaving was turning out to be worse, and who wants to deal with a garden full of cacti down there? Not me.

So, after years of waxing, I discovered that my favorite wax was this light chocolate wax which I discovered in Coco Chic. This amazing wax not only removes hair but also leaves my skin smooth, soft, and super fine. I learnt that it removes dead skin cells hence the great results. However, my worst nightmare came true when they ran out of stock and didn't restock for months. I couldn't bear to try any other type of wax, as I was terrified of experiencing excruciating pain. But finally, I mustered up the courage and called Nada to see if they had chocolate wax, and to my surprise, they did! I was over the moon with excitement and joy.

I was all excited about my waxing appointment, but let me tell you, it did not go as planned. The first strip was fine but then came the second one, and oh my god, I swear I thought I was gonna die. It was like my soul left my body and went straight to hell. And you wanna know why? They were using HARD WAX. Like, who does that?! I was so upset that they didn't even give me a warning or ask if I was cool with it. If you don't know, hard wax is this wax that gets hard on your skin, and then you just rip it off without a strip. I was in shock as all my previous experiences at other salons were of using strips. But apparently, hard wax is supposed to be better for your skin and all, but let me tell you, the pain was next level. I was literally crying on the table.

After a few sessions, I grew to love my therapist, Jamuna, at Nada. Her kindness and empathy made even the most painful waxing sessions bearable. If you're ever going to Nada, I highly recommend her. However, even with Jamuna's skill and patience, the pain was still unbearable. I was told that hard wax would reduce hair growth, but I saw no difference even after months of treatment. Perhaps it was because I was taking biotin vitamins for my hair, but those were for my head, not my 🐱. These hair vitamins never seem to get it right!

Discovering Brazilian Laser Hair Removal

So, when I heard about laser hair removal at Nada Clinic, I started to consider it as a serious option. And then, one lucky month, I saw a discounted offer and decided to go for it. Despite the hefty price tag, I was determined to do it because this seemed like the best option for me.

I have to admit, I was a bit scared and didn't know what to expect. But I had done my research and read a few reviews on the internet beforehand. I knew it would be different everywhere, but I felt confident in Nada's reputation. The offer they had was for four sessions, and I paid 5000RF for each of the first two sessions. The other two sessions were completely free of charge, so I paid a total of 10000rf for four sessions.

I was told that it wasn't going to hurt much at all, but to be honest, the first session wasn't too bad and I felt pretty good about going through with it. However, the second session was a whole different story! It was seriously painful! They did put some numbing gel on me, which made my skin feel so cold and like a gust of wind was blowing on me. I'm not exactly sure how it works because my eyes were covered, but it did help a little bit. Later, I found out that the reason the first session wasn't as bad was because they did it more gently, but in the second session, they definitely increased the intensity, maybe even the range! It was definitely a lot to handle.

Before I went through, I was thinking about four sessions and that would be it, I would never have to worry about hair removal again! But now, I'm starting to think that may not be the case. The hair growth visibly decreased but it certainly didn’t stop. So I had to pay for another 10,000 for 5 sessions (this too was an offer price). And hopefully after 9 sessions, I can chill a bit. One can hope.

Pros and Cons of Laser Hair Removal

So let’s break this down into the pros and cons of laser hair removal.

Pros:

‣ It takes much longer for hair to grow back, and after just five sessions, I only need maintenance sessions every two months

‣ The results are amazing - my skin is so soft and smooth!

‣ The grow back hairs are nearly baby soft almost like baby hairs

Cons:

‣ I won't lie, it's pretty painful. But hey, beauty is pain, right? (IS ITTTT????)

‣ The hair won't be removed permanently, so you'll need to come back for maintenance sessions a few times a year

‣ There's a bit of downtime after the session - about 1-2 days where you can't work out or do sweaty activities

‣ And let's not forget about the cost - it's definitely on the pricey side

Cost Comparison of Waxing vs. Laser Hair Removal

So, if you decide to stick with waxing, you'll have to do it every month, which ends up costing about 600rf each time. That means you'll be spending around 7,200rf every year.

On the other hand, with laser hair removal, you'll need about 9 sessions that cost about 20,000rf, and then maintenance sessions only 3 times a year for 3000rf each time. That totals up to 9000rf each year after the initial payment of about 20k.

Even though waxing is cheaper, it can be pretty harsh on the skin since the hair is forcefully pulled out. That's just my personal experience though, so keep that in mind! I hope this info helps you out if you're a girl like me just trying to keep things nice and smooth down there. ;)

Takeaway

My personal experience with laser hair removal has taught me a valuable lesson. I wish I had received more accurate information before starting the treatments. It seems to be a common problem in the beauty industry, where they prey on people's insecurities instead of celebrating their natural beauty.

I believe that beauty should come from within, and we should embrace our flaws and imperfections. But, if we choose to invest our money and time in beauty treatments, we deserve complete honesty and transparency from the providers.

If I had known that laser hair removal was not a permanent solution, I might have reconsidered my decision. However, I still have hope that it will be worth it in the long run. So, ladies, do your research and ask the right questions before committing to any beauty treatment.
